The Documentary

We are two filmmakers dedicated to producing short documentaries. Aron is our director of photography and editor, acting as creative director for our company „docyard“, mainly responsible for all the visual stuff. Andi, as an author and producer, is working more on the text side of things, writing and organizing projects.

We were hyped when we first heard about the Winterthur Warriors Ladies: Andi is a big American Football fan and Aron instantly liked the aesthetics of the sports. And we both share an interest in non-classical gender subjects where women do something that is thought of as being strictly „male“. So, we couldn’t pass on this opportunity. Even if it meant starting out without any financing…

We followed the team for about a year. Besides doing interviews with the key protagonists, we filmed trainings in different seasons (incl. the „winter is coming“ special snow training and the first training under corona restrictions). We also visited two training camps, the second one being a joint camp with the Broncos Ladies from Chur and the Allgäu Comets from Bavaria, Germany. And we covered an absolute highlight in the team’s history: The first game ever against their rivals, the St. Gallen Bears.

We are very near to the final cut of the documentary. During January, post-production (sound design, mix and mastering; color correction and grading; subtitling) will be done, mainly financed by our successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. Thanks to all our backers!

After the finishing of the movie (planned by the end of January) we will have a pre-premiere in February/March.
And as our short documentary is produced for the festival circuit, we are already submitting the film to several (short) film festival, hoping for a screening invitation by some prominent festival. We will keep you updated on this site and on our enterprise website and on our social media.
